Barack and the Media

I find myself increasingly disgusted by the lack of any media coverage of Barack and his entire campaign.  I realize that he is on TV almost 24/7, but all they seem to be doing is fawning.  I know this has been discussed a lot, but it really is starting to feel personal to me, so I wanted to write about it.

I mean, really, what are we missing?  Or more importantly, why can the media see what we see?  At this point I would think that there is enough of a critical mass against Barack that the media would start to feel like they HAVE to cover some of it.  But still, nothing.

I know we all know the reason: he is getting a free pass because almost everyone in the media wants him to win.  After all, he is the picture perfect Progressive.  The reincarnation of Bobby Kennedy, sent to free us from 40 years of conservative tyranny.

But at some point I guess I feel like they have to say SOMETHING about Barack, other than admiring him!

I mean, come on people!  This is normally red meat for the media types.  The flip-flops, the surrogate attacks, the lack of any policies, being on the wrong side of any number of issues.  Under any other circumstances this guy wouldn't last a week.

Frustrating to watch.

I content myself with believing that at some point, someone in the media will go after him.  Howie Kurtz did a little bit.  But it'll take someone with a little more juice.  And once the floodgates open, I hope that the water will come rushing in and drown Comrade Barack.

Till then, I guess we'll just have to endure the love-fest and pray that this guy doesn't win.

Good night from the Dog!

Wes Clarke versus Everyone

This is just a short diary to comment on how much I am enjoying watching Wes Clarke get thrown under the bus by...well, everyone.

Aside from being, maybe, the single dumbest set of comments I've heard this season (other than maybe Jeremiah Wright), it was nice to see everyone finally realize that Wes Clarke is a stupid MF!  We have had to listen to this moron espouse on military matters for years.  Gets tiresome.  But he finally just went completely off the rails, and what a pleasure to watch it is!

I realize it is probably a sin to revel in another person's personal destruction, but this couldn't happen to a nicer guy!  And the fact that he handled this so ham-fistedly is wonderful.  How could he POSSIBLY list McCain's "lack of qualifications" without realizing that McCain's resume STILL far out-strips Barack's?????

Just f***ing hilarious!!!

I love it when Progressives eat their own!  Makes my day!!!

Mike Kinsley and Oil

In this week's Time magazine, Michael Kinsley has one of the dumber opinion pieces I have read in awhile.

In his opinion column, Mike basically posits the theory that we currently have high oil/gas prices because George Bush didn't raise the gas tax after 9/11.

Huh???

Time gives him a full page to expound on this nuttiness, but what it boils down to is: Bush should have imposed a $1.50 gas tax in 2001, after 9/11, when the country would have gone along with anything.  And this, through some black magic that Mike doesn't explain, would have somehow kept the price of oil from ever rising.

This is dumb on so many levels, where does one start?

It ignores the impact of the weak dollar.

It ignores the impact of the Chinese buying every drop of oil they can get their hands on, regardless of price.

It ignores the fact that speculators are taking advantage of both of these situations.

If Mike actually thinks high gas taxes somehow impact the price of oil, he should go talk to the Dutch and Norwegians, both of whom are currently paying $11 per gallon for gas.

In the end, I just really can't believe that Michael gets paid to write this drivel!  Typical liberal thought process: nonsense ideas based on nonsense facts leading to nonsense conclusions.

This is what the future will hold if Barack gets elected...shudder!!!!

This is the Dog shaking his head...

I love Howie Kurtz!

One of my biggest pet peeves right now is that the MSM refuses to criticize Barack AT ALL.  They are letting slide all manner of gaffes, mis-statements and crazy positions (can you say "windfall profits tax"?).

Today, thank God, someone finally started calling them on it.  And it was the acerbic Mr Kurtz!  Good on ya, dude!!!

Howie just laid into his brethren over the fact that, not only did they not report Obama's flip-flop on the Supreme's gun control ruling, but they spun it as if no flip-flop had ever occurred.  Amazing, but not surprising.

Hopefully, between Howie calling out the MSM on their Barack love-fest, and Dobson laying into Obama for his mis-representation of Christian belief, we will start to see a gradual eroding of the fire-wall the media have built for Barack.

One can only hope!

Dog, out.

Erin Burnett doesn't get it...

This is just a quicky on Erin Burnett.  She's one of the biz-babes over at CNBC, but she got a little prime-time action this morning with Matt Lauer.  Unfortunately, it wasn't a shining and thoughtful moment for her.

Mind you, I like Erin.  But she is wrong on a couple of things right now.  One is the need to raise interest rates (she thinks we should), and the other (and the topic of this blog) is off-shore drilling.

This morning's story had Erin bragging about having done an "indepth" review of John McCain's proposal to drill off the coast of California and Florida.  And she threw ANWR in for good measure.  Her conclusion: it's a waste of time.

Unfortunately, she couldn't be more wrong!

Her point was a simple one: it'll take 10 years to get the oil flowing, and even if we pump every drop of oil out of those three areas, that will only provide enough oil to meet US needs for four years; 2 years for coastal drilling and another 2 years for ANWR.  And, she concludes, since four years isn't very long, what's the point?

Well, I guess Erin is entitled to her opinion.  But lets look a little deeper into the idea of an actual energy policy emerging over those 10 years.  How would that change the landscape?

First, 10 years from now there will be a world-wide oil shortage.  This is based upon the fact that China and India, who are causing all of our oil woes today, will have more than doubled their current demand for oil.  And without new reserves, there will just not be enough oil to meet their demands AND continue to serve the West.  So, we'll need more oil

Second, 10 years from now, America will have changed it's driving habits.  Five dollar a gallon gas is causing conservation already.  Keep pushing that price, and our world will have to change.  We'll drive less, and less far.  The federal and state work-week will go to 4, 10 hour days, thus saving one day of commuting per week.  The rest of the country will likely follow.  We'll still work 40 hours a week, only in 4 days instead of 5.

Third, 10 years from now, we will have made significant progress on retrieving oil from shale.  This is mostly a technical area, and what it means is that we will be on the cusp of having the ability to pull oil from shale.  But it won't quite be there.  Oil shale production will give us 30 years of independence, but we have to get there without our economy collapsing.  10 years from now, we can use that "4 extra years" of oil from the protected areas to buy us some time.

Taken together, the benefit from starting now and beginning to pump oil in a few years from these areas, makes perfect sense.  Frankly the only reason NOT to drill is a desire to see the American oil culture destroyed; a position held by most on the Left (including, no doubt, Ms Burnett).

So, Erin, sorry, but you are wrong on this one.  We need to start drilling immediately, and pump every ounce of oil under our control, out of the ground.  Then we may actually have a shot at energy independence.  All within 10 years!

So says the Dog!

Barack and FISA

I have to admit, this made my day!

Watching the meltdown over on DailyKox (among others) over Barack not voting against FISA is just delightful!  It is hilarious to watch the younglings and over-agers who populate the Progressive blogosphere finally realize what the rest of us figured out months ago: Barack stands for nothing except Barack!

I know this has gotten a lot of blogger attention, so I'm not going to beat a dead horse.  But one point has really annoyed me.  The MSM has not covered this one iota (at least not that I've seen).

I guess that isn't really surprising, given that they are already in the tank so heavily for Barack.  After all, what would they say?  That he showed no leadership what so ever?  That he didn't even bother showing up for one of the most important issues in the Senate this season?  That he is trying to claim a "not voting" (because of absence) for cloture is really voting against...without having to actually vote against?  That he is really just another craven pol?  That he stands for nothing?

That he may not be the messiah after all???

But the MSM is just keeping with it's usual method of not criticizing Barack directly.  He still can do no wrong in their eyes. So when he does something that completely betrays the very people who over-threw Hillary for his-Saint-ness, they have no real choice but to remain silent.

Too much fun!

Have a nice night!  The Dog.

Why I am blogging...

Greetings.

This may be the beginning of an interesting journey for me.  Or it may be just a lark.  I'm not sure yet.  Right now, I'm here for one simple reason: somewhere to go to get the frustrations of the day out of my system.  Simple.

I have no real reason to think anyone will want to read what I have to say.  I'm just like a ton of other people, I have opinions on most things, with lots of things that are driving me crazy.  And all of that energy needs to go somewhere.  Nothing special.

So, what's on my mind?  Mostly, right now, I am just anti-Barack. That means that if you have bought into the myth of Saint Barack, this will not be the blog to read.  I have nothing nice to say about him.

I really believe that Obama is the most dangerous phenomenon of my adult life (45+ years).  He is a demagogue and his supports remind me of the Khmer Rouge.  I really think his winning the election could lead to our own version of the Cultural Revolution.  I know I sort of mixed the analogies there, but you get the idea...

Honestly, he scares me, plain and simple!  I am just terrified of what he might do to this nation.  And that fear leads me to the bewilderment that people seem to be buying into his nonsense.  I just don't get it.

And all of that confusion leads to frustration.  What are people thinking????

Mind you, I don't think he is the Anti-Christ (like some folks) but he definitely seems like a fellow traveler.  And he obviously has no respect for those who don't share his views.  I really think he wants everyone to believe the same as he does; either by force of argument or just by force.

Scary!

Anyway, I will likely drop thoughts, opinions, and musings here periodically throughout the season.  If anyone reads them, great.  I hope they are worth your time.  And if not, that's okay too.  At least I've gotten things out of my system and off my mind.

Have a great night!   Dog.
